Default Have we turned the corner ?

Just home from the Kyle of Sutherland, good runs of seatrout, six of it tonight. Interestingly I couldn't see any lice on four, and only two very small louses on one. I found one tiny little louse on the keeper back home.
Last year there was good runs of seatrout and this year looks like it may we be a belter too. Six fish aint much to go by but with so few louses and those that were there so small dare I suggest we have turned a corner as far as louses go?

Sea trout stocks have been decimated pretty much nationwide d_j_vass, with many of the rivers suffering poor runs not having any commercial fish farms at or even near their estuaries.

If you are suggesting that lice infestation is the one and only problem facing our native sea trout stocks, and because steps have (slowly) been taken to tackle that one aspect, then you're more naive than even I gave you credit for. Also your 'scientific analysis" doesn't take into account mortality rates of smolts due to lice infestation on their journey to the sea.

In short - no we have not turned a corner, if anything the slide into the abyss is continuing unabated, so please don't take your single evenings fishing out of context and see it as a green light to commence (if you ever ceased) mass slaughter of any "keepers".

Sorry to say but make that three.
The West coast of Scotland has be polluted by these fish farms for years.
Decline and or extinction of salmon and sea trout runs in rivers.
The sea polluted with tons of **** from the fish.
Algae blooms that have poisoned shellfish.
Millions of tons of sandeels from the food chain removed to feed these fake salmon, starving the marine environment.
Need I say more!!!

Sorry to hijack your post d j vass, we have not turned the corner. Please do what you can to expose this menace and then perhaps we can all enjoy sea trout fishing at its best in the near future.
ATB,
Graham

Doubt we have turned the corner.
One Swallow does not make it Spring.
Sea Trout stocks have been up & down for many years & whilst intensive fish farming indubitable plays a big part in latter years a lot can be laid at the fishing community which constantly rape the sea of just about every thing that swims if they "can get away with it" & that includes Sand Eel a staple food for returning Sea Trout. It is no wonder the Puffin population is sadly too in decline because they can not catch enough eels to feed their chicks.

Seatrout runs are on the mend, perhaps we have not turned the corner but I think we can see the corner. ( East Coast view)
There are a lot more sandeels in the North Sea over the last two years.

As a sea trout fishing community, we should view the whole subject of sea trout stocks a little more objectively williegunn. With that view, we most certainly have not "turned a corner", nor even is that corner in sight. A little less 'I'm alright Jack' attitude is needed here.
