Default Nith Sea Trout

I have some experience of Night fishing for Sea Trout and have fished the DGAA water on the Nith for Salmon at the back end.

I was hoping to get a few nights in for Sea trout has anyone got any advice on pools, flies and if there is a reasonable chance in May?

Thanks

The runs of Seatrout on the nith, like many rivers have declined, I last fished for them four years ago, when on DGAA hardly a member was going out at night, don't know what it will be like this year, ive heard the haaf netters are now catching troots, If they are there then May would be a good month, you should contact Doug Smith on the Dalswinton fishings web site, they also have Barjarg, he would keep you right on flies and tactics, these two beats are the best on the Nith.
And the seatrout fishings are not expensive.

Hi Cack hander, if you were to fish DGAA for sea trout you wouldn't go far wrong fishing the pools you do for salmon, Top Boards, the Bluffs, tail end of the stab, Denholms wood, Rileys, Boys pool and Dalscone pool.

There have been quite a few sea trout (comparative to other years) running this year so far. I don't get the impression that the Mid Nithsdale beat has many so far. I would have thought that going no higher than Barjarg this month would be sensible.

The beat has some good holding pools and I would imagine not too busy, Dalswinton as the boys have said is good too.

If we get a lift of water there will be a few up at Mid nithsdale quick smart but there is none forecast at the moment.

Sea trout are in now!!
on water (mid nithsdale last night till 10 pm.)
caught three here is first (first sea trout of season for me!)
You can see the fly used! all three nailed same beastie!
Her mates were all identical 1.5 lbs straight off sea.
Water very very low, and bloody cold for evening hence me leaving at 10 pm.
But they are there!!
