Default Malcolm Edwards

Geoff Franks (seeker) has asked me to post this obituary on his behalf:

'For those of you who have not yet heard Malcolm Edwards, sea trout legend of the River Rheidol died this morning after a brave battle against cancer.
I'm sure all anglers in the Rheidol valley and much further afield will miss him badly. No one more than me. A true friend and gentleman'.

One of the best sewin anglers there ever was. His tally of double figure fish was awesome, a sad loss.

I never knew the man but was talking to a friend last night who was a very close friend of his and he had nothing but praise for the guy.
RIP

I often think of Malcolm Edwards when I'm still blank at 1am. In one of the interviews with him he said he would carefully fish through all the pools that other anglers had fished through, given up on and gone home. This advice has saved a trip for me on more than one occasion. Truly amazing seatrouter.

Default Sad loss.

I, like most didn't have the fortune to know him but admired him for his ability to catch monster seatrout. From what I have read of him he was a unassuming man who used everyday tackle to great effect.
A sad loss to seatrout fishing and fishing in general.

Graham

A very sad loss to Welsh angling. A very modest man but a great and highly respected seatrout angler. I last spoke to Malcolm in hospital in Aberystwyth about two weeks ago, he was uncomplaining, and he fought his illness with a quiet dignity that truely defines the man. A truely sad loss.

Very sad news.
Just prior to Christmas booked a fishing holiday in the Aberystwyth area for 2010.Looking back through my Trout and Salmon fishing reports,it soon became obvious who was the main man on the river Rheidol,Malcolm Edwards was a legend. Season after season he caught some cracking Sea Trout.
RIP.
