i have to say the best seatrout river is the castletown River which flows through Dundalk,Co.Louth East coast...year after year it produces great catches,this year there have been recorded over 3,500 last year 3,000 year before that 4,500 most fish are 1.5lb but a good few fish 3-4 and 5lb bracket have been broken too....all taken on fly...this has to be the best river for em...

Yes paul its a good wee river, Caught some great sea trout and salmon there, best sea trout was a shade over 4lb, but had salmon to 20lb.

Lots of smaller fish, great little fishery

Yes one of the best, I was born only a stones throw from the river fished it in the 60's and 70's and still go back when i get the chance. Waterlodge.

i remember one summers morning catching 3 salmon from 3 differant rivers around dundalk,
you know them well, fantastic fishing

That was good fishing hobble, did you ever go to the coffin bridge and have a look at the run upstream when the water is low.............a lot of stone loach in there.

The funny thing is its true, the old salmon anglers years ago used them for bait.

I know of collures and the striped ribbons,

the old rock minnows, they were the old boys getting up to no good, lol
