they are a brilliant head torch ,ive used one since they came out for barbel fishing through the night and early morning starts and late finishes, the red light is good for baiting up/putting flies on without throwing a beam of white light around and they do give off good light in white operation..

I got one of these from Argos a few years back and it's been great, genuinely worth every penny. It's one of the few headlights I've seen that has a sensible red light. Very often you have to click through the white light to get to the red one, or a red light is only tacked on as a gimmicky flashing emergency light or something. With this one, you can just use it as a red light and never even turn the white on if that's what you want to do.

Thanks for that John, I've been looking to replace a clip-on one that's broken, and as Jim says, welcome back.

I use a Petzl one, more expensive but essentially the same thing. Head torches are fantastic, you just can't get by without them for fishing into the dark...

You also become a beacon in mid summer nights for every flying insect nature can throw at you and possibly the odd Bat

However they are 100 times better than holding a torch while trying to tie flies etc.

Which model though? For those prices you can get a Petzl which is a name I trust.
