Default Advice/Information on where to start for first Sea Trout trip.

Hi guys,

My friend and I would love to have a go at Sea Trout fishing for the first time.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I've done research on the web and there are many places but who/where would people recommend for two or three days guided fishing?

Thanks in advance.

You're probably too late for this season as sea trout fishing is winding down now but for next season try Steffan Jones in West Wales who will put you on the Tywi or Teifi which are the two best rivers in Wales.

He also runs trips to Tierra del Fuego/Patagonia which may be of interest.

Look here:

As Sewinbasher says, you've missed the West Wales sea trout fishing season. There will be a number of fish in the system but after the end of August they're best left alone - some Associations insist that all sea trout are returned after the end of August. The prime time, depending upon water levels would be mid June to mid August. The fishing up to October 17th concentrates on the salmon.

I can also heartily recommend Steffan - he's the sort of character who could probably catch sewin from a bath!

Noticed your post regarding the sea trout , i to am interested in a bit of sea trout fishing but loks like i've missed it for this year . Just started out about five months ago "love it " ! This leads to my question " can you fly fish over the winter months " i know that there is less insect life about during this time of year but there must be something else ??

Your too late for the River Teign in Devon but we have had the best run for several years, wait until next April/May/June and get into some hard fighting large spring fish.
My clubs website is http://www.upper-teign-fishing.org.uk/index.htm
Cheers
