Default Tactics for sea trout in sea pools

Hey all,

I'm off to Devon next weekend and may have a chance to get a few hours in on the tidal beat of the Otter. Last time I went there were quite a few sea trout splashing about in the sea pool come nightfall. It was absolutely lashing down and very windy but they were there alright in good numbers.

I tried a couple of flies (until I dropped my torch )but couldn't connect even though a few of them definitely slashed at the fly. Any suggestions for sea trout in these lower pools. Size of flies, patterns etc.

had a similar experience in Knoydart in Scotland this year. Lots of fish splashing about in the sea pool, zero interest in anything I put on.

With a similar amount of activity up a river, I'd be very confident of getting something..

any tips, suggestions

thanks

Ed

Default

try a orange muddle on the dropper size 10
then about 4ft down at the point stick some smaller fly like a camasounary killer or a teal blue and silver or something with a bit of blue in it or flashy.
