Hi Streamer
I used to fish the estuary fairly extensively and reasonably successfully for Sea Trout but I used to use a spinner (silver Mepp Aglia size 2)but I`m positive that a flashy fly such as a blue and silver closer or similar would do. My best days were on the higher tides at the top of the tide and just as it was ebbing. Remember that you need the Environment Agency rod licence for migratory fish if you are going to give it a shot. I did fine from July through to early September
I mainly fished around where the River Bela joined the estuary and down the rocks towards Sandside. Never had much sucess at Arnside but again if fish are around and if the rains don`t come the fish are going to stack up as each week goes by. One word of warning though. Those fish had extremely soft mouths and often came unstuck so don`t over horse them if you are lucky.
Best of luck.
