Default Welsh Seatrout

Does anyone know any good free / reasonably priced stretches in Wales. When the season opens myself and my buddy would like to try for some Seatrout. Don't worry we will be buying a the relevant migratory fish licences. We would want to find somewhere reasonable to stay aswell, e.g. cottage / rented mobile home, etc.

Tips or experienced would be greatly appreciated.

TL,

Guy

There's not a lot of free fishing but in the South you can try Llandyssul AS who issue day tickets at £25 and weekly tickets at between £65 and £77 depending on when in the season you go.

Here's the link

Day tickets on the Towy can be expensive but this club does a reasonable deal

membership

In the north you can fish on the Clwyd for about £10 via Denbigh & District and other clubs, the best contact is Foxon's tackle shop 01745 530530. Day tickets for the Gwydyr fishing on the Conwy are about £30 from the hotel.

When I say "day tickets" in most cases this also means night fishing as well which is the best fly fishing.

hi-free fishing in the tidal stretch of the river Dwyfor near Criccieth in North Wales.Local angling club Llanystumdwy and district A.A. for virtually the whole of the river quite reasonable-best time may/june for larger specimens jly/aug for larger but smaller fish. Richard.

Check out: Aberystwyth Angling Association

Club static caravan available for around £250 a week. Recommend you come in late May early June for sea trout. Fish not their in large numbers, sadly, but if you are prepared to put in the hours-fishing throughout the night you have a good chance of catching a fish of a lifetime, dedication is the key-the sense of achievement is incredible.

Generally, the fishing potential, for the visiting angler is without equal .Using Aberystwyth as you’re base you can fly fish ,pretty much , with the same tackle:-

1. For sea bass off the shore or sea kayak.
2. For mullet in the harbour or Ynys-Las.
3. For sea trout/salmon on the river Rheidol, Ystwyth or Upper Dyfi, for around £15 a day.
4. For wild mounting trout at Nant Y Moch reservoir – currently producing around 20 trout a day for the average angler.
5. Travel inland ,around 40 minutes away, and visit Clywedog reservoir –one of the best stocked top of the water venues in the country.

Send me a message if you decide to pay us a visit ,would be happy to point you in the right direction, Sedgy.

Glad you still have the caravans ,the 3 Wrens had a few good stays there back when the boy was 9-10-11,he loved going out on the lake with Dad rowing him to the far side and back.
Come to think of it you did not mention your lakes ,not sure how good they are now ,but great fun back then .
