Default Tweed Sea Trout

I heard the Sea Trout fishing is extremely good!! Was fishing the lower Tweed and they say in the summer months Sea Trout up to 21lbs can be taken even on the dry fly! The ghillies say they shake them off to get a hold of the brownies! Sounds like a good bout for next year!

Fish up to 18lbs are not rare on the Tweed people are saying and the Sea Trout was again good this year!

Can't wait to wet my line there next season!

I had my first Grayling trip to the Tweed at Melrose in Feb this year. Didn't get a sniff of a Grayling but did hook a lovely 3lbish sea trout. 21lb seems like a tall order to me though.

Not uncommon for high teens of lbs sea trout to be taken by salmon anglers on tweed.
This year is the exception!
Biggest recorded was only 14lbs!

Shaking sea trout off to get into the brown trout who in the right mind would do that Not me for sure the harder fighting fish the better IMO.

I know the shaking them off comment really confused me! There's nothing like hooking into a sea trout!

Re. the comment above a lot of the sea trout aren't recorded due to the house rods/ghillies catching them out at night causing the records of bigger fish to be slightly lower. Wouldn't mind a 14lb Sea Trout though don't think i'd complain about that.

Good comment above the Till is a great sea trout river being the second main tributary in the river very close to sea. I've even seen hundreds of sea trout in a tiny stream running through Eyemouth from the harbour theres that many about.

Here's a very average sized one about 4lbs from the Upper Tweed in July this year. There are plenty bigger than this, and the usual size for the autumn ones you pick up when after salmon are nearer 6lbs. Best i've seen in recent years off Upper Tweed was 13lb. Good daytime takers as well. I find the Till fish of generally smaller average size, though more of them. The Eye at Eyemouth also gets a decent run of big fish too.

Good fish mate!

The guys lower down have said the fish they get a hold of get up to a serious size! Being so close to the sea the trout have lost very little of their condition so come in huge and silver the way they should be
