Default Falkus & Horsley

If you think Falkus was the inventor of the medicine and secret weapon etc, i suggest reading Fishing for Trout and Salmon by Terence Horsley.
Printed in 1947, ( 15 years before Falkus Sea Trout Fishing ) it clearly shows flies such as medicine, sunk lure and secret weapon.
Also has methods and detailing which have clearly been copied.

Falkus may have fished them more than Horsley but he most certainly did not invent any of them.

I like Falkus books but the original flies etc come from an earlier vintage.

I think you will find the medicine is attributed to Brigadier Wilson by Falkus and he makes no particular claims to the other two ,after all terrors and demons go back to some of the early days of Blagdon and flying trebles too the dapping flys of Victorian days .

Sorry just had to rise to this ,fish nothing like Falk and my casting is very different from what he taught me in the late 80s ,but he still is one of my bedside reads .

Yes i know it was suggested as being named Medicine by Mr Wilson, however, Horsley shows the actual fly, silver painted shank, low water salmon hook et all in his book 1947.

I love Falkus books and have fished there many times and stayed at Cragg, however, those new to Falkus books, and long time readers, should be made aware of Horsleys book.

Falkus did not credit Horsley in Sea Trout Fishing, it is obvious why when you read Fishing for Trout and Salmon by Terence Horsley.
