Default Good seatrout reads.

How are ye lads, looking for suggested reading on the subject of fly fishing for seatrout , have been rereading Falkus of late and it really is super but would like to hear some other views, I found the articles by Tim Smith and David Pilkington in TS very interesting are they published or involved in a Blog?
Any input would be appreciated . PJ.

James Waltham -The Sea Trout & The Fly, well worth reading and if you can find a copy of R C Bridgetts Sea Trout Fishing its certainly worth a look.
Falkus also wrote a short book, only about 15 pages about Sea Trout, rather pricey, but a magical book.

Successful Sea Trout Angling by Graeme Harris & Moc Morgan is an excellent book IMO. Covers all methods, not just fly. Provides a good review of the literature available at the time the book was written, including the book by Falkus.

Try other and older authors too. Authors are coloured by their own experiences and what was good for them may not be true for you.

Charles MacLaren and WB Currie are both good authors.

One more vote for James Waltham's -The Sea Trout & The Fly - you can usually pick up a copy on ebay reasonably cheaply. Waltham has another book as well: "Sea Trout Flies"

cheers

An excellent book I got recently is 'The Sea Trout Diaries' by R W Mountjoy. It's a world away from Sidney Spencer or Kingsmill Moore but I found it just as enjoyable. Written about the fishing on the Tavy, Walkham and Plym Fishing club waters but with insights that can be transferred to many rivers I would think. Packed full of black and white photo's it has a slightly unusual format with diary entries on the left hand pages and the chapter subjects on the right.
