Default HeadLamps

Can anyone recommend any particular type of headlamp for sea trout fishing.

I've had a few cheap ones and they don't seem to last any amount of time.
Don't mind spending a bit if necessary.

Thanks

I use a Speleo Headlite, it's about ten years old and as good as when I bought it.

There are plenty of good quality headlamps on the go nowadays. I have a tiny Princeton Tec Scout model that lives in the bottom of a pocket of my fishing jacket and throws a surprising amount of light. Think you can pick them up for about £20 on eBay.

2nd that, but i only use my headlamp to walk from the river back to my truck at the end of the session, i find them to bright by the river (the red filter is useful but my 50 year old eyes struggle with it!), so i use an old orvis light which hangs by a lanyard at tying height and isn't too bright.
Cheers
Richard

Lenser h7's are good too, last for years but don't have the red beam for waters edge to prevent spooking fish. But does have a dimmer function.

I've got the LED Lenser Head Fire Dual Colour, its got a dimmable beam, the red beam being great for being next to the river and the white beam will get you back to the car, light as a feather and less than £30

If you are walking on straight forward banks then I would think many of the headlamps would do. If you are having to walk in for half a mile through rough tracks, rocks an thicket, then I would offer this advice: buy two - a dim little cheap jobbie with an additional red LED for when you are at the pool (never on the pool) and for the journey back to the car buy the best you can afford to light the way - a petzl MYO XP is superb lamp with a great range and battery life.
