Default I've finally done it!!!!

After 3 years of trying......(one week in each year) i've finally caught my first Sewin!!!!

In the previous 3 years i had not even had a pull. The river had always been down to it's bare bones and there were few fish about. This year, the river was pushing through and dropping.......there were plenty of fish about and i had numerous chances.

The fish was only 1lb 12oz but i also lost much bigger fish....one in particular will haunt me for some time.

To feel those fish pull in the complete darkness is the biggest rush i've ever had in fly fishing! Just amazing.

After 4 nights fishing, i had landed 1, lost 5 and had many pulls.........sounds cr@p i know but given my previous stats, i was elated!!!

Many thanks must go to Dave Mee for the local knowledge that put me straight onto fish.

I'll try to get a picture posted later.....

Well done Phil - it was great to see how over the moon you were with the sewin and it's also reassuring to see other folk become emphatuated with this type of fishing (i.e. that I didn't lose my marbles becoming obsessed with sewin given you don't tend to catch that many!)

Here's to the next one - that clonker that got away when you were beaching it!

Bri

Well Done Phil

They pull like nothing else does don’t they, I have only ever caught small Sewin in the late evening when after browns on the Welsh Dee but even under 3lb they are totally mental. I will have to try for a bigger one in the dark sometime soon.

Congrats I landed my first 2 weeks ago on a friday night, this was in the sea but was spinning and bubble floating. I was trying since march 2-3 times per week and was pretty determined to get one. Just new to flyfishing and not quite ready for them with the fly rod. I will give it a go soon, I picked up a line and cheap reel and some flies and looking forward to that buzz on the fly...

Cheers
Kevin
