Re: Fish farming effects on migratory fish
The Loch Maree Hotel catch average before 1985 was 2,000+ seatrout, fionnach were not counted, by the end of the 80's the catch had dropped to less than 300 with no big spawners returning, the salmon did not suffer as much but the catch rate on the Ewe dropped to less than 100 from about 700, the cages were then in the Ewe estuary, there is no doubt in my mind that this was caused by the cages, the Canadian west coast is suffering now and Chile has dumped the cages, definitely an environmental disaster, easker 1
