Default Petzl Head Lamps for night time fishing

What do you recommend from the Petzl range of headlamps to use for night time fishing? They seem to have quite a bit of choice. I'm guessing anyone who has one will use it with the red led at night time so not to alarm/disturb any sea trout? I'm not sure though whether it is a red screen/filter that is moved over the top or an actual red led separate from all the other ones? I imagine if the latter I'm wondering what visibility is like?

I can't comment on the Petzl lamp, but I have 2 of these and they are very good.
White, red and green lights and a light at the back if you need it. The only slight down side, is you have to cycle through the white light before you get to the red or green lights.

Get yourself an Energizer 7 Led Headlamp. 5 white leds and two red leds. Very bright and no where near the cost of a Petzl.

I've had a Petzl MYO RXP for a few months now and it still amazes me every time I use it, especially when using the diffuser. They're pretty expensive though, and white light only. I've had the Tak Tika XP too, it has different colour diffusers, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the brightness.

I have read that the Alpkit Gamma that Trollspindle mentioned is really good, and its clearly good value... In fact, I'm going to buy one.

Thanks guys. I shall take a look at the Alpkit and Energiser ones. I like low cost and good value.

I seem to collect head torches, but the one above is my favourite.
Saw Steff Jones use one and thought it was so much better than my petzel, so have had that as my favourite ever since...
