Default 3/4/5wt Sink Tip line

Im determined to fish a couple of very small rivers where there are good runs of sea trout. I dont know of any sink tip lines in the small weights and a short sinking tip. I need to get down a bit to them without a full sinking line any thoughts? I like the pirates 3 foot sink tip have those in 6,7 and 8 would like some similar thanks pat

Why not use Airflo Light trout polyleaders.

Default Furled mono leader

This will do it on a small river. One made with fluoro will sink faster.I use normal mono 5-6ft long but smaller river you could go for a shorter version.Maybe try spinning one up yourself "singapore leader" style for this purpose then you can custom length to suit and use choice of material. There is a link on here somewhere showing how easy it is to make this style of leader. It will be in one of the furled leader posts.Otherwise contact Rod Dibble of Mr Trout to make you a proffessional version.

Best JP

Harris Sportsmail are doing a clear intermediate WF5 for £5 at the moment, ideal for sea trout on a small river. Harris Sportsmail American Made Flyline Intermediate | HarrisSportsmail.com

Used to be a cortland 444 #5 clear ghost tip intermediate on market. might be worth looking at.
was green weight forward floating line with fifteen foot clear sink tip.
still use #8 version for sea trout, is brill at getting down to the right spot on medium rivers.
regards
bert

Teeny has sink tip lines down to 100 grains which is recommended for 3#. For 4/5# at the moment I am using a Cortland 175 grain sinktip.. its on the heavy side but it casts well.
I have just bought the RIo Density compensated 150 grain line to see if this doesnt over load the rod as much but i cant comment yet as I havent been out!

As an alternative to the above get some steelhead CCT's (custom cut tips) - T7-T18 sink tips - in varying densities and cut them to the length required.
