In my opinion It is way to light for seatrout fishing.

I was thinking more along the lines of 7/8.unless you were only going to fish for wee Seatrout.
I like sink tips for my Seatrouting but a very slow inter would be fine.

I have the #7/8 Jim. Use it for sea bassmy trout rod i use and Opti loop power, with an Opti runner reel #7/8, and a line from guide line called bullet 17gram, intermediate polyleader.Just thought it would be fun with some light tackle around may, june in my ring fishing into land. I have some mates who fish with sage xi2 #6 all year round. What rod do you use. On my sonik i use SA stillwater #8 flys of the reel sounds like its screaming going through the rings.

I agree with Jim 7/8 is the way to go I sometimes even use a 12ft d/h its an 8/9
I bought a 9/10 9ft last year for estuary fishing where there is also a good chance of a decent back end salmon.
On an 7wt i use a sink tip and on the bigger(hevier weighted) rods salmon poly leaders int./sink

I use a Redington CPS 10' 7# or Scierra SST 9'6'' 8# with a 444 floater with a 5' or 10' inter/slow sink polyleader.
