Default Fisheries 2027 - How Our Fisheries Will be Managed In Future

Quote:
You may be aware of the Fisheries Vision which is currently out to consultation until April 26th. Between now and then we have organised a series of trips around the coast to talk to the industry about the Vision and get their input.

I have had a few calls from recreational sea anglers saying that the trips have not been advertised enough. I therefore wondered if you would be able to spread the word and publicise these forthcoming events. If there are any websites, newsletters etc.. Id be most grateful if the following dates could be mentioned.

Feb 28th- Scarborough : Crown Hotel, 19.00 start
March 15th- Grimsby : National Fish Heritage Centre, 'fred smith room'. - 14.00 start
March 21st- Lancaster : Holiday Inn, 18.30 start
March 22nd- North Shields, Fishermens Mission- - 14.00 start with merchants,
19.30 start with industry.
March 26th- Lowestoft- Hotel Victoria- 19.00 start
March 30th- Hastings : Horntye Park, Bohemia Road- 14.00 start
April 3rd- Plymouth : - The China Pub, 14.00 start.

I know there are some salty anglers on here and a growing number of people interested in taking up SWFF. You don't need to be up to date with the latest news, to have an idea of the current state of our fish stocks.

Please think about invest a little time in your recreational activities. The decisions made now will also effect the next generation of sea anglers.

The above statement doesn't really require a reply other than to say 'get typing'

looking at the document i see that it only mentions a strategy for england - so thats okay, they can ring fence the english coast and keep the fish from migrating elsewhere?? you woudl think they woudl realise that it needs to be a bit wider to have any effect

a bit insular isnt it.

That's devolution of power for you. Just like the way the Welsh had their own consultation on the Bass MLS and made more of a ****-up than the English did. At least England got 40cm!

****ing stupid idea that is - lets have several houses full of politicians creaming a living off and argueing with each other whilst things go to hell in a handbag. A bit of joined up thinking would be nice!
