Well done Jan. Thats a great effort. Greg mentioned you were heading down so good to hear who you got on. Great to see Manuel doing what he does best. One of the best permit guides going around. When I first met him he used to say 'Bonefish make me happy but permit are my drugs'. They are addictive fish to chase.

Having helped Manuel to develop his business over the past few years we are now pleased to say that we are the exclusive European agent for Casa Veijo Chac lodge so if you fancy booking a trip to one of the great saltwater destinations and fishing with some great guides like Manuel then feel free to give us a call.

Mat

Looks brilliant! Permit are next on my 'hit list' having crossed Bonefish off for the first time this year! The water you're wading in looks surprisingly deep; was spotting the fish difficult?

Thanks. Its quite easy to see schools of permit in deepish water, in fact from the poling platform you can see them from 100yds+ if the sun is out. once you see them then you watch the school hard whilst getting in the water and wading rapidly to cut them off. The big fish was a lucky spot nearby, but the big advantage in the deep wading is that you can often get within 20/30 feet of the fish without spooking them.

Jan

Wow! Fantastic - well done and I'm truly envious.

Out of interest, what AFTM rod were you using and did the Lamson Litespeed stand up to the salt?

Thanks,

Ben

Thumbs up

Ben,

Thanks

I was using a sage tcr 9 weight with a 9 weight SA floating line and 300 yds 50lb
gsp backing on a litespeed 3.5 - I have had the reels for 4 years with no issues at all - just make sure you rinse them assembled, not with the spool removed or you will get water in the bearings. The bearings were changed by lamson to s/s so they have been fine. great reels I have been very pleased, but they don't get a lot of work.
