Default Tuesday Kingfish

Hi Guys, I had a trip out with a mate on Auckland harbour on Tuesday after work. We hit the marker bouys in the chanels with our fly rods and I managed to pop my kingfish on fly cherry! Very pleased.
They are only small "Rat" kings, but man they can pull!
Here are a couple of pics.

Well done . Kingfish is in my top 10 list of fish that I want to catch on a fly.

Thanks guys, Steve, I have bait fished that area for Snapper for 20+ years, but this is the first time I have cast a fly at the markers!
James, come on down, the weathers warm and the fishing is hot!
Here is a pic of Nick with one.

I left NZ in '94.

Man the fun we used to have in that harbour - especially water skiing well up the Western end near Greenhithe. I even used to water ski at lunchtime in Hobson Bay. After work I'd head out of Westhaven dry dock and fish for snapper off the channel markers in the Rangitoto channel. Fresh snapper for dinner was awesome.
