Default Scad

This is one fish I have never had on the fly, I live in the Southampton area, has anyone caught one in the Solent or surrounding areas thanks Steve

Do you fish your marks at night? They are a common end of season species.

Ive had my best bass and sea trout when it get dark, Ive had a lot of herring and mackerel at night off my boat along Southampton estuary but no scad, would love to catch one, have you a mark I could try in seasoin thanks Steve

Sorry man, but I don't give marks out till I know people very well. They come up at night in large schools so if you keep at it at night you should get some. I use much smaller flies, size 6 and 4. Small baitfish patterns. If you know some locations that attract loads of small fish focus there.

The Scad aren't around in the numbers they used to be. The numbers have been steadily dwindling over the years and I only had half a dozen or so last year.
