Default Los Roches

I am returning to Los Roches for a weeks guided fishing in March/April, fished it last year and enjoyed it so revisiting. This time I'm going to take an extra week and explore some of the adjoining islands. Last year I did have a day on Franquis which is about ten minutes from Los Roques and the fishing was excellent, plenty of bone fish. This time I plan to try as many of the out laying islands as possible, if any one has any experience or knowledge of the islands off Los Roches it would be a great help, bones would be my primary quarry but I will take a spinning rod so would be prepared to have a go for anything

There are 300+ islands in the archipelago, I strongly suggest taking a fly fishing guide they cost 250$'s per day for 2 flyfishers, including a boat. For bones the best guide on the islands is without doubt Pedro (he trained a lot of the younger guides) one of his protégés (and cousin as it so happens) is Javier also an excellent guide and THE guy for Permit.

have fun

Thanks Baltic Fly, I've got a guide for a week but plan to do a bit of DIY fishing for the second week. From previous experience the guides english is not good enough to ask them for advice although on my last trip I must admit I didn't try, at the time I wasn't planning a return visit.

Hi. I fished Madrisqui which is very close and has fair to good bf. Try the back side of the isl. here you may find tailers and mudtrailing fish. It is in conjunction to Cayo Pirata, and at the very point they meet you´ll find the hotspot.
I fished Espenqui, which is in the middle of the Archipelago. BIG cuda and snapper.
Crasqui and Espenqui was only soso..
I fished a lot with fish imitations 10 cms long lying dead on the bottom. Those were the killers.
What do you pay for staying on the island ?
Now I fish the Bahamas which is much more rewarding. You always fish sight fishing with a variety of patterns. I´ll go there for my 3. trip february 10.
