Default UV Protection Gloves

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question or not but here goes:

I'd like some info or reccomendations for a pair of UV protection gloves that I see a lot of the tropical guys using. Any of you use them and if so which would you suggest I buy for a 2 week trip to Tasmania in the new year?

Or would I be better just plastering the back of my hands with factor 50??

Any info appreciated.

Cheers

Gareth

You don't say exactly when you are visiting Tasmania, but whenever, you are not going to need UV gloves or factor 50 sun tan lotion.....We are not talking about the tropics here

The Tasmanian climate is pretty temperate, averaging around 20-24 degrees celcius in the summer months, and 10-15 through the rest of the year, with June & July, probably giving the coldest av temps, and Jan & Feb being the warmest months.

I dont use them because I wear reinforced stripping gloves - the waterworks ones - the others I've tried only last a couple of days. I always carry a thicker pair of gloves for dealing with gt's and big fish - sun gloves wont offer you protection there. You want a decent pair of gloves in the bluewater stuff. For a single trip you can save money by going to a sports soccer and buying a pair of the dunlop BMX gloves less than a tenner. An old golf glove can work too if you, always get them really tight as they stretch when wet and can be a pain in the ass. If you're chasing small bones you dont really need the stripping gloves and sun gloves are good.
