Default what species?

Hi guys, I was fly fishing in the docks this morning trying for a pollock or bass the mullet where still feeding along the sides which does not shock me as the water is warm for this time of year, now I seen two older fella's turn up with carp rods and 3 hook flapper rigs and rag worm they was casting around 20 yards out but where catching whiting, which leads me to my train of thought has anyone on here caught whiting or pouting while chasing other species such as pollock or bass? And what other fish has turned up on the fly around the UK shore line could be interesting to find out, hopefully someone will have landed a few different species and will share, thanks for reading, and any posts that will tell the stories,

Flounder seem to be purposefully targeted by a small band of devotees and I have throught that they and the other common flatties up here (NE Scotland) would readily fall to a fly fished in some of the shallow, sandy bays. Turbot are appearing in bigger numbers in the NE of Scotland and they should definitely chase a fly. The dab is the most common of our flatties though and they would probably take a small fly?

I did mean to try for more sea fish this year as one of my clubs has a length of sheltered foreshore. But . . . I kept falling into the river. Maybe next season . . . .

I once had a ballan wrase on the fly when fishing for pollack in Eire. Mind you I also had a conger the same day when using a rubber lure good fun on a spinning outfit, i don't think it knew it was hooked for the first 10 mins!

Mary you left out my Alis shad. Some of the Easties had a few as well, I know kev has a slight fettish for em.

And as we are scratching the barrel - I had a crab fair and square in the nippers too. Hell of a take - **** fight though

I also think its about time us UK floggers admit the weed clump as a legitimate species ?

UKSWFF.co.uk • View topic - British Species Album

Take a look at the above post on another site. I have pictures of Flounder and Whiting which I could add to make a total of 29 species but they are tiny fish and I'm hoping someone else has pictures of some bigger fish.

There are some tiddlers on there but it's good fun

I would be pleased if some of the species mentioned above and not on the list could be added....Blue Shark, John Dory, Bream, Pouting etc.
