Hi Ryan,
I'm brand new to fly fishing but live not far from Poole... I've been fishing (Spinning/Beachcasting) on Chesil beach, Portland/Weymouth but do most of my fishing at either Kimmeridge Bay or Warbarrow Bay just outside of Wareham...
Kimmeridge is evil for bottom tackle but great for anything floating & Warbarrow is a good all rounder but you'll need to check out on the Tynham village website as it's closed for the Armoured Corps firing ranges for most of the year (usually open early Sat to dark Sunday).

Both places have the very occasional Fly Fisherman kicking around which led me to give it a go... I drew a blank with 3 rods in the water a few weeks back but the guy who turned up with a fly rod for an hour or 2 took home a pair of Bass so I came home & dug out my unwanted fly rod from xmas a few years back and have just set it up to get out on the beach.

I am aware that its a late reply but you should check them out if you visit again!

Regards, Leigh

I fished around Sandbanks a few weeks ago on a couple of mornings and did OK, I'm back again next weekend for a few days and was going to have a few early morning trips.
Plenty of bass about.

Andy

Try to mimic any bait fish/fry you see hanging around in the shallows and amount the rocks on the groynes and you won't be too far away. Oddly enough I caught all my fish at the top of the tide on slack water. I put this down to the smaller bait fish being intercepted by bass as they moved out of the shelter of the groynes once the main tide flow had subsided a bit.
I fished a floater with a fast 10ft sink tip leader. All hits came on the stop after 3 x 1' fast strips.

Cheers

Andy

Many thanks for the heads up, I've not saltwater fly fished before so that will help, going to give sandbanks a go as it's only 20 mins from home, is hamworthy/Rockley park any good ?

Hamworthy's lovely for the kids but not sure about FF... I expect there'll be a few Bream about if you use Ragworm... It'd be a nice place to try though since you could wade out a few hundred yards on a calm day but if theres a wind watch out for hooking a kite surfer
Think I'll be going to Warbarrow Bay for the back end of the spring tides this Saturday morning as the parking is a £2 donation instead of a fiver at Kimmeridge but ill be taking some bait along since I'm not too confident at the fluff chucking yet.
Always happy for a meet up with like minded guys Rockhopper as long as you dont mind a few ear piercings?!?!
