Default What are your best performing bonefish flies?

Show and tell your best performing flies by location.

Here's a starter from me. Enrico Puglisi's Spawning Shrimp. Has worked well for me in the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos. (This has also taken a variety of fish in Florida.)

Also (and this is not my ties because I couldn't find the photo I took of my own fly) a basic Gotcha but with added Silli Legs from Charlie Craven. Same locations.

Handsome looking flies you've got there!

My favourites for Abaco would be a variation of Puffs (tied with rabbits fur and legs) for tailing fish. And Sim-Ram for cruising fish. The Sim-Ram is a fovourite for big fish, I tie it on a size 2, which makes it a very large BF fly being 3 - 4 inches long.... I guess the fish mistake it for a mantis shrimp?

Any pics? I found some on the web. The Skinny Shrimp looks a lot like Peterson's Spawning Shrimp which I have used before (and clocked myself in the head a couple of times also!). Here's a pic from the Orvis site:

I'm bound to say that the fly I've always found most effective is the one about 4 feet (give or take) in front of the bonefish's nose, almost without regard to pattern.I think it was Lefty Kreh who commented that, provided a bonefish could get something in its mouth, and that it hadn't been scared by it, then it would eat it. Always assuming it was in the mood to eat anything of course.

If I could only carry 10 fly patterns to the flats, I'd take these:

Dave Skok and Jaimie Boyle's Reverend Laing; Peterson's Spawning Shrimp; Moore's Bonefish Crab; Trodella's Ghost; Simonen's Simram; the original McVay Gotcha, Beck's Silly Legs, Veverka's Mantis, Adam's Ba$tard Crab, and my own Strip Tease.

Here's a photo of the Strip Tease, which is similar to others in the posts above.

If I had to take one single fly, it would be the good old tan and pink gotcha!
