Default Bugdet Shooting Head

I've got a few lines for my saltwater set up but there's an empty spool just waiting to be filled and I've noticed that the WF 10wt Ron Thompson energizer sinking lines are being sold off very cheaply on that auction site. I realise they're not the best of lines but if I lopped off the first 30' would it make a suitable shooting head. I know I can get cheap double taper mill ends from Mullarkeys and some of them have been very good but the last one I bought turned out to be just a level length of flyline only good for tying up runner beans so I fancied something different.

I'm sure that would be fine. Cast with it first - with the appropriate fly and leader attached - and don't cut it until you know how much of it feels like a good match to the rod and your casting action. If you mark it at the tip where it feels right then add another 2-4 ft to make up for the line in the rings. Of course, longer is better than shorter so err on the side of extra, you can always cut a bit more.

Thanks for that, I missed out on the first auction so I'll have another go
