Default first bass on a fly

[img][/img] not sure if this works trying to put a picture on here, anyway i have done it after missing a few fish coming close and failing i,ve landed my first bass on the fly i used my flextec 9 foot 8/9 on them which is a much better rod than my airflo bluetooth nano. i hooked the fish on a olive and white size 1/0 clouser minnow but i've lost fish in there on dna flies too. the bass was around 2lb and put back alive as all my bass will ever be picture fish.

Isn't that a plump one! Well done, you will find it gets easier now you have taken the pressure off yourself.

As the season goes on, try experimenting with BIGGER flies. I have just tied a couple this evenig, 2/0 V-Cut hooks, 5" long baitfish patterns. As autumn arrives they will go on the offensive on the mackerel. A 2lb bass like yours will easily go for a mackerel - 8" flies will be devoured. Try experimenting with different places too - it is easy to get sucked into going to the same productive spot, but sometimes you will find an even better one by exploring.

i have had fish chasing and pulling the fly in the area for the last few weeks and if i had not seen the fish chasing the fly to the surface at times i would have given up believing they was fish pulling back on me the fish seem to pull at the tail rather than take hold of the whole fly but i guess this may be because of the amount of spinners they have seen, as the fish are stuck in the docks for the time being, i'm hoping the weather does not cut up to bad as i got tuesday and wednesday off so will be trying to get a big one that chased my fly, i must admit i do get a lot of funny looks and comments fly fishing i've yet to see another fly angler there.

If it's a certain docks in the Barry area you might see me down there fluff chucking. I blanked last time I tried float fishing for Mullet so the next time I was going to try my fly rod for a bit of practice if nothing else

It is a docks in Barry, I have spent the winter chasing pollack in there on a fly and lost one small fish early spring, in march I got a first look at just how many mullet are in there I have had the mullet following flies on warm days always early morning though, I come close to landing a mullet in there on a fly which took a size 14 ptn but I got the fish in the net after a long fight just for the net to fall apart the fish got away, I come close to selling up the fly tackle that day, I thought give it one more shot and had a hour of pull and pull I never knew how hard bass pull the fly I was starting to think it's in my head until I seen them chasing the fly to the surface, they wanted a long tailed dna fly that day but I could not hook up my next trip I used a clouser and. The rsult my first landed fish fast pick and put it back, but I have so far found 3 places where the bass seem to be all other areas nothing, I might have a go with a floater in there soon as the fish only seem to go for a slow figure 8 in there, if your interested in meeting up at some point drop me a pm
