Default Grxi 10 ft 8# on the salt

I have just purchased a grxi 10 ft 8 #
Will this be ok to use in salt water as going to be trying the sea very soon

Thanks

Can't really see a problem; I'd prefer a nine-footer myself, but others may have other preferences. Obviously, an 8wt line (!) and appropriate flies - keep them on the sparse side, and not too big either, or you may wish for more power. Wash the rod (and everything else, for that matter) in clean, fresh water after use, and enjoy.

Very good advice that if you don't want your tackle soiled.

Good luck Glen, I'm just back from Wales and had three sessions with my #8 outfit not a pull!
Regards,
Dave.

Yes would love a fish on the fly rod in the sea, I bet it's very addictive !!
The only time I caught on the fly rod was in Majorca on the normal punters beach, I pasted a adams fly with bread an hooked a 2lb bream and it zipped me down to my backing, I was on a 8ft 4# streamflex!! So you can imagine the fun I had with hundreds of Germans behind me shouting ja ja ja lol

Had some good advice from the lads on here so hope to get some action

Nice one
G

It'll be ok for the occasional dabble but as mentioned above you might want to drop down to a 9' rod if you're going to be doing a lot of SWFF.

Chris
Why is it better to use the 9ft rather than the 10ft on the sea, is it due to windy conditions?
Thanks
Glen

Glen
Your rod will be fine for UK saltwater, I use mainly 9ft 8wts but only because they double up for Bonefish Carp etc abroad.Thats sight fishing and a 9footer is a bit better for fast acurate casting.

In the UK most fishing is blind so it doesnt really matter, my mate uses a Fulling Mill 10ft 8wt and always seems to catch more Bass than me.
