Default g tec reel in the salt

I really want to go but I am scared stiff of destroying my g tec reel. Has anyone used one in the sea at all? I have read as it is made from barstock 6061 that this should offer some salt resistance........ can anyone clear this up for me? and I know all you guys will say just wash it, but I'm just after some peace of mind before I take the plunge.

Thanks
Chris

Been using mine for several years without slightest problem. Same goes for the matching 7wt travel rod. Both well up to caustic effects of the sea, here and Carrib, Tasmanian Sea, Med etc where salinity can be substantially higher, where I would take gear into the shower with me after a session. Wife was a bit put out but you need to get your priorities right!

Thats a great idea! I suppose you can strip the line out of the reel to wash the line and just reel back on fantastic, thank you very much Timmy!
