Default Dinas Island Pembrokeshire

We are off on holiday here in a few weeks time and I was hoping for some advice on whether it was worth chucking an 8 weight outfit for a go at SWFF. Is this area suitable for a salt beginner and what would I be likely to catch??
Thanks,
Dave.

As you're right on the doorstep of the Nevern and Teifi estuarys I'd say yes. You should be in with a chance of Mullet, Bass, Flounder and Mackerel at the least. You'd have to check locally if there are Golden Grey Mullet about but I hear they're partial to a bloodworm fly.

You're not far from the deep water headland at Strumble Head ( the other side of Fishguard) Really deep water close in of the rock heads, fish a Sinking line in the gullies for Pollack with Sandeel patterns or big Clousers.
Also be worth a go in the estuaries for Bass/ Mullet on the flood tide.
A word of caution- DON'T be tempted to fish any of the headlands in heavy swell conditions- obvious I know- but waves will roll up the rock faces out of nowhere.
Mackerel should be everywhere down that part of the world now- enjoy.

Ade.
