Default North Devon 25/26th June

Managed a couple of trips this weekend. Blanked yesterday at Lee Bay, but managed to get out this evening in the estuary and finally popped my SWFF cherry. Only a small fish, around a pound, but it's made my day! Caught on a slowly retrieved olive/white clouser.
Made doubly satisfying after being told by an old sage that was there collecting peelers that I was wasting my time there with the fly.

good work.

I caught 2 x 3lbers in South Devon this weekend that were both stuffed with hardback crab. Both fish took a 4 inch size 6 livebait fly (think sandeel) so contrary to yor sage, this also suggests that there are times when bass will take whatver they can get rather than being preoccupied with one food source. One of these fish was taken on the drop near the surface over relatively deep water so it would appear to have been cruising around as well as ferretting for crabs

Congrats on your fish- now your confidence will hopefully build in to more catches
