Default Fly line care

Hi Guys.
My first post here so be gentle with me...If you want to play rough, I dont mind but it will cost you just a little bit more than the standard rate....

I was wondering what you guys do to preserve and clean your lines after fishing in the salt. Do you just wash down or use some fancy (and no doubt expensive) cleaner on your lines.
Up till now, I have just been removing them from the spool and rinsing in fresh water, a light wipe with a damp cloth, let it dry then re-spool....
Is that good enough or is there a better way to do this?
Your thoughts please.....

I think your good to go. Bit more involved in assuring you've got your reel/shooting line AND backing throughly 'de-salted.'

That was a pain in the butt.

Its a non-issue really. I just give my reels a quick spray after each trip and thats it. I clean my lines maybe once a session.

Agreed. I clean and lubricate (I use greased lightening cleaner/lube)the lines after every trip but store them on std spools or on the reel. Sometimes I put the lines thru the shower during a trip and re lubricate them.

Mates use expensive line winders and store the lines on big airy spools. OTT for me !!

Make sure the reels are clean though.

Hope this helps.

I agree, thats all I do. Just been checking my lines, braided loops, backing & knots this morning. Getting my gear together ready for my next SWFF trip to Ireland and everything was fine.
