Default New Rod for the Bones

As mentioned in my previous thread I'm a relative newcomer when it comes to Salt water Fly Fishing and as such I need to purchase a new Bone Fishing Rod, For travel purposes I'm looking at a multi Piece 9' 8wt that will fit in a large wheeled holdall. So far I've seen a couple of options (Budget is a big consideration).
They Are:

Shakespeare Expedition 7piece

Airflo Nano Bluetooth 4 Piece

Ideally I'd like to buy a 10 weight as well for any bigger fish I might encounter, so sub £100 is ideal.

does anybody have any experiences with these or can offer some viable alternatives.

Many Thanks

Don't you wish money was no object. I had a cast with an 8 and 10wt Loomis NRX and I love them. These are one hell of a rod..

5 or 6 years old, but none the worse for that, get a sub £180 second-hand Sage RPLXi. I did.

Normally available in 3 piece, 5 piece cversions were popular. Great in #7 or #8. I have a 9' 6" variant; slightly more versatile than 9' but still great for bonefishing.

Hi James

Bit Confused (Although, Probably Obvious) is your experience a decent looking permit or a broken shakespeare.

if its the latter, what rod weight were you using and is it the new XT model, very much liked the idea of the shakespeare as for around £50each I could potentially take 2 8 weights and a 10 weight!!!!

Thanks Rookstorm the Nano sounds like a good rod, especially if the guides are impressed!!!

Secondhand Rods sound nice but availability could be an issue!!!

Many Thanks Guys

That's a Trevally rather than a Permit

I would stay away from 7 piece rods. My choice would be 3 or 4 piece. 4 pieces fit easily enough in the suitcase.

It was a #10 by the way.

The RPLXi is a nice rod. I have it in a 7# and use it for Bones when appropriate. Casts nicely in to a stiff breeze.
