Default River Irvine Estuary.

While out walking I observed a lot of salmon jumping in the river Irvine estuary. This was below the harbour and right down to the sea. Is it possible to catch fish in this area or are they just racing through towards the river? Are there sea trout in this estuary too?
Thanks.

the longer they hang about the harbour/estuary the harder they get to catch .but the minute you get water, they switch on again and become takers.
tight lines

Default r irvine

Never seen salmon caught as far down as harbour area, can be caught further up estuary near Queens railway bridge, still in tidal water, with bunch of worms. Used to be great for sea trout , spinning with mepps and tobys, some guys did do well with fly in tidal pools above railway bridge up to the weir.Have not fished for a few years now. You require Irvine and district ac permit i believe down to the old ship yard, maritime museum area of the estuary.
