Default Guideline reputation?

I'm new to the salmon rod thing, but have my eye on a 10 foot 8 weight Guideline LPXe. Problem is though, from a wee bit of research on a few forums, I see that quite a few people report breakages with their Guidelines
I already have an LPXe trout rod, which I love, but haven't relyy fished that much with it.........can you tell I'm nervous
Any thoughts or information please ??

The early Double handers seemed to have some breakage issues, but think it's sorted now.

Had a few snap at the butt.

Replaced very quickly under warranty.

So many doubles broke they did have a manufacture problem but its sorted now. I'm sure shops will still have old stock though. I got my 15ft second hand And its been great.
Imho the best rod in its price bracket for shooting heads but NOT for long spey lines.

aye i had a shot of one with a 75ft head guideline Dury line, which one would think would do the biz....It felt "fragile"and not confidence instilling. The whole rod seemed to have a bit of "give" if thats the best way to describe it. It did not like hauling up a full sinker.
Then again, its only an opinion that is based on other rods with the same lines.
One of our guys got one and snapped it first cast

Hi,

I have many guideline rods from there entry range rods to there premium reaction and lecie rods. i have heard of some snapping and some of the lecie's being referred to as 'le snap'. I have never had a problem with mine, touch wood.

At the end of the day if i had any queries or issues with manufacturing or the quality of rods i wouldnt invest in them or the brand. However, i adore their rods and i will continue to buy them as they have provided me with some great fishing days.

like the above comments say, the issues have been addressed and faults have been ironed out.

hope this helps as well

The lpxe range is one of the best rod ranges I have tried. Super rods for the money.

The Guideline LPXE rods are superb rods to use with shooting heads, regardless of whether you are using floating or sinking lines. However, I would not dream of going out fishing with only one rod in the car having had both 14' and 15' rods snap on me on more than one occasion. That includes some of the newer 4 piece models. The other thing is that warranty replacement is at their discretion now, I had to pay over 50 pounds the last time I broke a section while spey casting a floating line. Guideline reported back that they couldn't be certain that it should be a warranty replacement??
