There are hundreds of patterns that will work on different rivers but you won't go far wrong with these.

Cascade shrimp,
Ally's shrimp,
Stoats Tail,
Silver Stoats Tail,
Willie Gunn (especially on tubes of various weights for different water conditions.)

Every salmon Angler will have his/her own favourites I would add one more to the list as I always like a salmon fly with a hint of blue in it as an alternative. I usually carry a blue charm in my box along with the others.

thanks for that ruby pennel its not acc me thats starting to fly fish for the salmon its one of my mates and hes on the hunt for good few flies to start of with.

If you get Orange ,Red and Yellow in size 8/10/12 doubles in these 3 flies
Flamethrower
Cascade
Allies shrimp
With a 1'' aluminium and 1''copper tube in each of them .
Will get your pal some fish.
