What I fail to understand is why this group of people didn't use their vision and start an Organisation after the serious crash of the early 90's
|
Well com1, I can’t vouch for the others you mention or all the members and supporters of the WSA, but back in the 90s I was supporting and even donating my hard earned to an organisation I believed at the time, was formed to restore the salmon fishing.

...they weren't around in the 50's, 60's and most of the 70's when rod catches were stable and at their best.
|
And neither were barbel. Also in the 50s and 60s (maybe not the 70s), if you tried canoeing in the spawning season you’d have probably had a 12 bore fired over your head by a very angry gamekeeper. Oh, the good old days.
There is a dusting of white on the tops towards the Elan and my local brook is flowing more.

I couldn't agree more. What is the point in all the antagonism... really? No-one's asking for a love in, but right now even a little mutual respect looks a million miles away. Any organisation... WUF, MRA, WSA, whoever has to be able to work in partnership with others. If I am working on achieving a strategic objective I am a glass half full man by nature, I try and keep the big picture in mind and ignore the flak... always keep the point of the journey in mind and ignore those who would try to deflect you from it.

Re: Wye Results 2012
My main reason for posting on here is to defend WUF from the select few who chose to try and portray them as some fraudulent, conning, underhand Organisation who's motives and objectives are anything but the recovery of the salmon and the good of the river Wye.
Accusations such as barbel taking priority over salmon, promoting canoeing and siding with the canoeists over the salmon and fishermen, the integrity of the Passport etc.... It's all rubbish and unnecessary. The aim is to help the river, the salmon and the rivers wildlife thrive again for everyone's benefit.
Letton, you know where I stand on this and would welcome a ceasefire! Peace out!

Re: Wye Results 2012
You are all right; it's not a competition, it is not even a war so there is not a peace to make.
Ironic that I was the person who suggested and, in part brokered, the last meeting that one might argue was the catalyst for the foundation of the WSA and then was excluded from the meeting.

Re: Wye Results 2012
as I said, "its not a competition."
so i agree no peace to make
I believe that cranefly was one of the people responsible for brokering the last meeting back in 2009 and I was surprised that he wasn't present. Maybe if he had been then something more could have been made of it.
To remind people of the meeting and for new posters maybe their first look, the minutes etc of the meeting are published here , I note that WUF never published the minutes on their site.
It seems that WUF have never responded to the 4 items as agreed and that they basically make up the ongoing grievances held by all outside of the WUF 'rapture', along with a few new ones i.e. canoeists.
I am as concilitory as the next man as those that know me will testify and another meeting would be a wonderful opportunity to engage all those that have a grievance or otherwise but if the points raised are discarded as soon as the participants leave the room then the point of the meeting is lost...

All day fishing yesterday and I could only find about 20 plants to pull. The really great news is that this section of the Monnow has had only 1 year's treatment.
"Hey but its not a competition is it?" is what you said, SF; a question not a statement. L1 made the statement, "it isn't a competition". You are wrong again, but only for two reasons this time though.

Re: Wye Results 2012
it was a rhetorical question presented as a positive assertion or statement.
It turns out that it is in fact not a competition.
Have you any idea why you weren't invited to the meeting cranefly? (thats not rhetorical).
