Maple is on a distinguished road
Default River Tees

Help / advice please.

I'm looking to shorten my travelling distances (and to avoid visiting relatives in Scotland!) and (I believe) the nearest Salmon & Sea trout fishing to me (North Bedfordshire) is the Tees?

I enjoyed fished many years ago at Barnard Castle as a guest - even though we didn't catch anything - but I'm looking for info on day ticket waters, best times of year etc.

Maybe the Tyne?

All advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

the tyne would be your best bet, check out the back of T&S for clubs and syndicates on the tyne.TFF also ran a few articles about a hotel that had fishing on the tyne.
tight lines.

Thanks Jim.

I'll take a look as suggested.

If I ever sneak home I get snatched by the relatives and waste 2 / 5 days drinking tea

"My, haven't you grown" - I'm 53 now

Many thanks.

Big Waters AC has a couple of miles on the Tyne. I've only just joined the club so I can't say for certain how well it fishes but it's certainly an absolutely beautiful stretch, and very quiet too.
