Now I understand the "Thistle" connection...it's not Daiwa and it's not Alex Martin...it's Scotland

(forgive me, I'm in the US and failed to study Scot history prior to this post)
My hope was to learn of the origins of Daiwa UK (Scotland). Is it within the umbrella of the asian Daiwa corp...if so did they buyout a local manufacturer?...and who were the gents building 2 handed salmon fly rods in the 1980's and 90's (early carbon fiber era). They made "GREAT RODS" and I'd like to know who they were. Those who designed the tapers and built the rods were exceptionally GOOD at their trade.
GuyFromLaw, please ask the lassies if they can find out more about this. I'm very interested in who these gent's were.
I fish them regularly for steelhead in the pacific northwest of the USA. Fished many 2 handers and few, if any, have better tapers and more durable craftmanship to this day.
