Default First Time Francis

I'd never tied, nor used a GFL before so thought I'd give them a go.

Here is the GFL 'Mis-Spelt' Prawn

These are on 1.5" copper slipstreams.

And one with eyes

Tied one on this morning for the first time and chucked it out. Don't think I had made more than 3 casts when this 35" dressed cock hammered it.

He was a really thick set, strong fish and despite his condition he gave me a right good scrap. At one point he ran hard to the far bank and just sat there holding and I couldn't shift him.

Yes, Miss Frances Hydon, Peter Dean's assistant who dressed the first order after he devised the pattern in 1964.

I only spelled it wrong, and didn't really need a lesson is English as I am more than aware of the gender spellings.

The FrancEs were tied a few weeks back and the treble was one which was lying on my table which I used for the pic.

The fish was actually hooked in the centre of his 'tongue' on a single as the leaves were murder. As was casting in a strong southerly at my back.

ps... Just out of curiosity, when would there be a better time to use a treble?

When I take up mind reading I will let you know. Then I will realise that you already knew about the gender spellings and that the fly with a treble in it was to be used with a single.

When to use a treble, I have not used one for years now, but July when looking for a grilse for the house would be ok.

Are you suggesting that all salmon fishing should be catch and release?
