I did take both of these fish and I understand I may have some flak from the second fish but being it my 2nd ever salmon on my 1st outing I just had to. I wouldnt take another fish as coloured as this or even I wouldnt take another salmon but my oh my I do respect this mighty fish!!!

Well done lad. First of hopefully many. You must be delighted.

Mind in future the camera is all the bragging rights you need. That second fish is worthless for eating, and the first fish is unclean too.

I promise you that in future, when you go home after returning fish, the buzz you will get will outweigh killing any fish.

But not going to give you flak.

Your wee river looks lovely.

Thanks for the comments, for the last 3 days all I have done is talk about my salmon...well and truly chuffed with them but as it has been suggested I wouldnt kill another hen or coloured fish (obviously if I can help it (i.e deep hooked)) but being it my first salmon and then another much larger I felt inclined to do it I have a massive amount of respect for the mighty salmon now.

Well done on catching your first salmon. As you've already mentioned, you yourself are of the understanding these should have ideally been returned. Well done nonetheless.

Good man, and respect for being honest about your fish lad. I know you will think twice in the future.

Oh aye, most of us probably made that same decision as you did when we caught our first salmon.

You tying the fleas for them yet?
