Default best method to approach salmon

hi everyone. after 4 unsuccessful trips for salmon I need more help. I'm going to be fishing lures/spinners for salmon tomorrow and I suspect that the river will be starting to come down from a recent spate. what is the best method to approach the salmon.

many thanks

gerry

Unless you are fishing a river that is teeming with fish I'm afraid the best approach is persistence. It is not unusual to have many blanks in a row when salmon fishing for the average salmon angler.

Keep at it and eventually you will succeed, you need to be in the right place at the right time and have a bit of "lady luck"

Agreed. if the river's fining down after a spate, get a flee in there. i genuinely believe there's no benefit to the spinner over a well presented fly. Plus you'll feel doubly smug!

My tip, try, try and try again. if the river's coming down you'll have a good chance at this time of year, there's nothing like that pull on the line.
