Question Hoddom

I have three days on the Annan at Hoddom for the end of next week. Can anyone advise fly patterns, leader set-ups, pool information, etc.
Should be in with my best chance of finally getting my first salmon

Carl

I like the top of the beat where the milk comes in down to the pool where the river turns left.leaves are a bit of a problem just now.
Flamethrowers are very good .Orange, red, or yellow depending on water conditions/colour.
(if leaves are a problem ,fish a tube fly with a double hook with the hook turned to be in the Dressing rather than hanging down.)

I was on Hoddam for the whole of last week Carl. Would agree with everything that Grayling said.

Jimmy's was full of fish yesterday (couldn't get any of them to take though!), the Churchyard pool is also meant to be good.

Duke's is good but tends to be very heavily fished because it's right by the car park. They allow up to twelve rods on the beat, too many in my opinion, and by the time I finished fishing it on Thursday morning and walked back up the pool there were six other anglers coming down behind me. Not my cup of tea I'm afraid!

You can fit 12 on there but everyone runs to Duke's pool first so it gets crowded. Saying that you can fit 3-4 on Dukes anyway. No problem as long as everyone keeps moving down. I prefer the top stretch anyway...
