Was looking for info as regards salmon fishing around Tayside.

Im just starting out salmon fishing (fly fishing). Was wondering if anyone had recommendations on some decent beats or clubs to join at a budget price.

I've only been out a couple of times, on the Isla at Aberbothrie and the Ruan Ruarie beat on the Garry, but was looking to maybe get a season ticket somewhere. For this year or next.

I've been thinking about the Eden in Fife, but from what I've heard it's more of a spinning water.

The Kirriemuir AC waters on the South Esk look good value, as does Stormont AC on the Tay.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Yep, the Eden is a small overgrown burn, and the locals call it just that, 'the burn.' However you can easily fish the fly off a smaller rod below Dairsie. It's a back-end water for migratories though but you get lots of wee finnock in the summer. The Ericht is a great wee river.

Think it's hard to get certain beats on the ericht on a saturday.
Blairgowrie AC rods take up all the quota for rods, so I believe.
