Default Monster salmon caught on the Gaula

A stunning 46.5lb salmon has been taken on the fly from Norway's famous River Gaula.

QUOTE FROM THE REPORT

There was no discussion about releasing the fish – the tube fly was swallowed very deep. By the way, during the last years over 60% of all salmon caught on the NFC water were carefully released, this is why the Norwegian Flyfishers Club is seen as the spear head of catch & release in Norway.

bit of a contradiction in terms there!
that fish was killed as a trophy, but then again, how many anglers here would return a record fish for the water?
I know i would have to think twice.
I just sometimes take umbrage at the reasons for killing.
Deeply hooked?
cut the line let it go! chances are it will live to spawn.
regards
bert
