Default Light line double hander

I'm considering a shortish double hander - maybe about 12ft or so to cast a light line, 6 or 7 perhaps. Any recommendations?

Check the recommended grain or gram casting weight. Double handed rods use a casting range different from trout AFTM system. You will probably find that a 7 weight double hander takes the equivalent of a 9 or 10 weight judged by the trout AFTM system.

Having said that my favourite short double hander is the Guideline LPXE 12ft 6in 7/8. It's worth putting on your list to try out - rods are too personal to take someone else's word!

Loop or Guideline switch rods are excellent.

Paul, Tim Rajeff (Mr ECHO) has a number of two-handers which might just be what you are looking for. First off there are the ECHO Dec Hogan series of rods these rods have a medium action. Among this series there is a 12'2 #5 weight with a grain/gram window of approx 330gr-450gr/21g - 29g and a 12'6" #6 weight with a grain/gram window of approx 390gr - 510gr / 25g to 33g.

If however you prefer a slightly faster action then I would suggest having a look at the ECHO TR Series. These rods have a medium fast action. The #5 weight is 12'0" long and has a grain/gram window of approx. 360gr - 480gr / 23g to 31g whereas the 12'6" #6 weight has a window of roughly 420gr - 540gr / 27g to 35g.

In addition there is also a full range of switch rods available.

If you are interested and you would like some more info or even a "test drive" drop me a mail and I am sure that we can get something worked out
