Have you checked with Sage, i've assembled a couple of XP's but almost all of them i wrapped with Gudebrod Olive, but that where whole rods.

3lb Grayling, if it is a new rod blank you are wrapping and can't figure out wich color matches the blank best. Try white silk it will go translucent and take the color of the blank. If you don't mind seeing the guide foot then it is the best option..

Sorry i couldn't be of more assistance here (and for messing up your language )

I wish I could Phil. I'm supposed to be doing a small repair for Brian, but we are stuck for the correct shade of thread. The model is an XP. I've just emailed Sage to see if they can help.

Here is the Gudebrod colour chart for their threads. Assuming they use Gudebrod? Anybody recognise the shade? Colour reproduction in a picture is poor, and bear in mind there is no colour presever used on Sage rods, so the colour will be darker when coated with the finish than the dry thread.

maybe they have used fishhawk (don't think so) i do know Sage had there own color for the TXL's allthough 0209 suits it really nicely. None of the NCP threads?? Well now i'm just guessing and not helping, i will go and put a foot in my mouth now..

David it looks like the Olive Green 1892 but I am only guessing.

Foxons in St Asaph are UK repair agents for Sage; maybe Renee will be willing to advise you if you give her a call.

340 gold is what sage used for the XP rods. Without CP it goes a nice olive color on the dark green blanks.

If you're stuck for some, I could see how much I have left. I know I have a spool at home, but I also know I've used it for a few rods (including a factory Sage XP 906-2 re-wrap with alconites).

Thanks
Rick

gudebrod lists H&H as their UK dealers. Haven't checked to confirm, but that's what is on their website:

Gudebrod Inc.

Fishhawk also lists H&H as their UK dealer.

Thanks,
Rick
