Default GLoomis Thread colour

Hi,
Would anyone like to hazard or have an educated guess at, (or better still, actually know) what colour thread G Loomis uses for the Streamdance rod models? I thought it might be Gudebrod Gold 0340, but it looks more yellow-ey than when used on the Zaxis what do others think?
Cheers

Hi I'm sorry I can't help on the exact colour, I haven't repaired a streamdance.

Just be careful though when choosing the thread colour to get a match that you be aware the thread has no colour preserver on it, so it is very likely the thread will be much lighter than it would appear on the rod as it is now with the finish applied. The thread darkens considerably (or goes translucent) when the finish is applied.

You could try Hopkins and Holloway
They have list of the colours used on the Sage rods.
You never know they may have one with the Loomis rod colour on.
Worth a try mate

Hi.

According to someone on the rodbuilding.org thread some time ago , Streamdance colours are Gudebrod 541 (light brown) and 5274 (dark brown).

The other option would be to ask Loomis.

Regards

SL

I've contacted G Loomis, but no reply yet. I've also contacted Shimano(who now own GLoomis), who did reply quickly, and stated that the whippings are 'golden'
Maybe it is Gudebrod Gold 340, or maybe Goldenrod.

Hi SL, not sure the 541 will turn the same colour as above after epoxy-ing.

Does the blank colour underneath have an effect on the final colour shade change?
Many thanks

OOoopppps!!!!!
Meant to have been the Whispercreek. Though it seems to be the same whipping colour. Blank is different colour.

Thanks Trev, I have to clear up though, I don't own one, I have a blank that is basically the same colour and I like the colour combo on the Loomis.

Yes, the darker the blank colour the darker the thread will go. See post #2.

Might possibly be Gudebrod Leaf Green if the Goldenrod comes out too yellow....
